You all know how much trouble one can possibly get into by asking for directions. Well, Manzaleh got asked for directions - and got caught up in a battle and more!

This is the start of our ‘cliffhanger’ format, where the end of the previous episode will segue into the next. This episode was almost late due to vanity reasons. Primarily, me trying to nail one of the voices right and failing near the end. Its a better episode than the last two by far, tho I’d have loved to find the right sound effects to have put into them. In any event, once Episode 6 hits, I will be going back and remastering them as well as putting out an audio commentary of my critiuqes for the series thus far.

Once again, thanks to all of you for your support. I promise the next episode won’t hit THIS LATE again. Made deadline by roughly ten minutes….eesh.

A Few Things

From the top:

First off, no, this isn’t an ‘Oops, Episode 3 is going to be late post’. Episode 3 is done and will be released on schedule tomor…well, later today. Its 1:05am my time as I type this out and I want to listen through the new Episode one more time before its released. Why? Because I kind of made a small botch with Episode 2.

I actually left out a paragraph of exposition that would explain exactly -how- Manzaleh knew about a certain pair of khopesh swords among a tidbit or two. So, I will be doing a slight edit on Episode 2 tomorrow and releasing it with Episode 3. Once I’ve made the correction, for those of you who don’t want to go through and listen to ‘Check, Please!’ again (and why wouldn’t you want to, its such a fantastic episode, right?……right??), I will put the paragraph up on the site tomorrow. I’m considering making a specific area called ‘Botches’ just for this sort of thing.

In other news, thanks to everyone who have been listening to our podcast. As of yesterday, we broke 100 hits on our first two episodes and the introduction demo and a few hairs over 1000 hits for the site. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but its a start and a definite step in the right direction. Thank you all for helping us get off the ground!

If anyone is having a problem with logging in to post on the forum or leave replies, please email me directly at manzaleh@yahoo.com and let me know what you’re running into and I’ll not only get it fixed, but I’ll get you a login personally. I’ve seen the hits to the register section of the site and am wondering if there’s a problem with that.

On a side note, I’m still in the middle of revamping the site a bit. Should be done later today, after I release the new episode. Let me know what you think :).

And lastly, I’ve had a few people fire off comments wondering if I am going to be discussing Michael Jackson’s, who passed away last thursday. To be honest, I think more than enough people are commenting on the subject at this point and I think what has needed to be said, has been said. I only hope he finds the inner peace in death that he seemed unable to achieve in life.

And if that’s not irony…

Episode Two: Check, Please!

For someone who is perpetually hungry, Manzaleh certainly has a problem with dishes. Throw in thieves and magical weapons and you got the recipe for a great adventure…oh wait, this is Manzaleh we’re talking about, sorry. I meant a great disaster.

This episode is being released a little early while I work on some kinks with the site and other things. I may go and revise one or two small bits with this episode, but its more because of small things that annoy me with it than the actual content.

Now, if only some of you could offer some critiques or advice to help make this podcast the best it can be, it’d almost be like heaven :). Don’t worry, we don’t bite people on the forums. In fact, if you talk into it, you could hear an echo, if you get what I mean :)

Episode One: No Sense of Direction

In our first episode Manzaleh gets into an, ehh….disagreement with a unsatisfied customer. Experience the loss! The majesty! The drama! The….okay, its not that amazing, but it is pretty good.

On a side note, we’re considering going every fifteen days with a new podcast instead of every month. We’ll see how that goes. If we’re able to get far enough ahead, we might do just that. What do you think?

Introduction Demo

This is a demo of the introduction for Straits of Manzaleh. This will run on every episode and lasts roughly two and a half minutes, give or take. As it stands, I am wrapping up the script for Episode 5 and have Episode 6 roughed out. Recorded-wise, Episodes One through Four are recorded and are in the editing process as we speak, so at least we’re making good time.

I can already hear you saying ‘Whoa, hold on now, WHO are you guys and WHAT the heck is this?!

Well, let me answer that. I’m Scott Rodrigues and this is Straits of Manzaleh, a Science Fantasy Podcast about a series of short stories that I write. Yes, another hack wannabe writer trying to make it big. We’re in trouble now ;).

Straits isn’t your average ‘Kill Them All’, ‘Save The Princess’ kind of deal, though. No siree, this is a series about Manzaleh, a cartographer with a bad case of wanderlust and a poor sense of direction, who winds up in one zany adventure after another in an interconnected universe.

Still reading? Excellent.

Straits will begin broadcasting on the first and fifteenth of every month starting June 1st, and will be available via the standard RSS feeds and iTunes. Visit http://manzaleh.com for more details about the series and for further information as we begin to bring this whole shebang together.

See You In The Straits!
